What I've done

During my time writing for OBU's News Bureau, I was honored with the opportunity to craft a story for Ouachita's 2020 alumni magazine, The Circle.

Through my practicum studies and work-study position, I wrote for Ouachita's News Bureau, creating blogs and press releases for the general public.

I was a staff writer for OBU's yearbook, The Ouachitonian, as well as its copy editor in 2019. I also worked as a staff writer for the school's newspaper, The Signal, for the fall semester of 2018. Both of these positions have made me well versed in AP style, as well as familiar with holding others and myself to deadlines.

Through an article for The Ouachitonian, I had the opportunity to interview and better understand a student athlete's unique and inspiring story of recovery after a life altering car crash.

I have covered a diverse range of topics through writing for The Signal, including covering a new chapter of Ducks Unlimited on campus, a campus book sale, and an opinion piece debating traditions.

For a class covering online media, I created a multi-media article about the struggles female percussionists can face, a piece about women in politics, and an article about the Lady Tigers basketball team.

I was honored to have my academic work published in Ouachita's Assayer's 28, a series of student's essays, published and distributed in Composition classes for teaching purposes.

Ouachita's social media department recognized my skills as a writer by selecting me to create an article and be a featured guest as a freshman for the Ouachita's Voices blog.

As a freshman, I presented an original researched paper, "Lights, Camera, Novel," and presentation from my Children's and YA Literature class at Honors Day.

I discovered an opportunity to work on honing my writing skills by joining The Odyssey's community. For a year I wrote articles about fun and random topics that expanded my talents as a writer.
